Turks & Caicos Islands

The Turks & Caicos Islands consist of 40 islands and cays, eight of which are inhabited. The islands are located 550 miles southeast of Miami, Florida, just below the Bahamas chain, east of Cuba, and north of the island of Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti). The island of Providenciales or "Provo" where the swim race takes place is serviced directly by several major airlines flying direct from Miami, New York, Atlanta, Charlotte (NC), Toronto, and London (UK).

The amazingly diverse population of 35,000 consists mainly of native Turks & Caicos Islanders, Americans, Canadians, Brits, Haitians, Jamaicans, Dominicans, and Filipinos, but just about every nationality is represented. Providenciales is the main island for tourists arriving by plane with many fine hotels and cafes. Grace Bay on Providenciales is consistently rated Best Beach in the world by many travel magazines and organizations — and for good reason: The white sand and clear, turquoise waters are breathtaking. No wonder it is also one of the best places in the world for open water swimming and the venue for the “Race for the Conch” Eco-SeaSwim.

Not to be missed are the spectacular and far less populated outer islands—North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, Salt Cay, and Grand Turk—with their own unique charm and beauty. They are easy to visit for a day from Providenciales by ferry or aircraft. For swim training or a private tour, check out Caicu Naniki Vacation Adventures at (Consistent 5 star TripAdvisor reviews.) Snorkeling excursions and other activities can be booked directly by contacting Marco Travel, the most established travel agency on Providenciales, at To learn more about the Turks & Caicos please check out the Turks & Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association link below.
